The Maui County consists of five Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) – Central Maui, Hana, Olinda-Kula, West Maui and Moloka‘i-Lana‘i. Our efforts are focused on watershed planning, flood prevention, reforestation, runoff control, wildlife habitat and environmental education. We also assist farmers, ranchers, and private land users in making the best use of their natural resources through proper land use planning, design and implementation of best management practices, and use of federal funded farm programs.

Our community depends on having clean water and stable, healthy soil. The Maui Soil & Water Conservation Districts have worked for many years to discover, develop, implement and constantly improve productive lands and our environment. Through educational and outreach programs, members have fostered the science and art of natural resource conservation, which has been especially vital in these challenging times of increased demand and diminished availability.
